People sometimes ask why we are slow to publish a new case. The honest answer is that we refuse to publish a story we have not stood inside of.
Before any individual or family appears on this website, a member of our team meets them. We sit down, we listen, and we confirm that the need is real, current, and described accurately. We do not exaggerate. We do not soften the truth into something more comfortable.
Verification protects the donor
When you give through The AARU Foundation, you are trusting us. Verification is how we honour that trust. You should never wonder whether your kindness reached a real person with a real need.
Verification protects dignity
There is a quieter reason too. The people we feature are not characters in a fundraising story. They are neighbours. Verification lets us tell their story truthfully, with their consent, and without stripping away their dignity.
So yes, we are sometimes slow. We would rather be slow and honest than fast and vague.
